RARE 1899 5 dollar “Chief” Silver Certificate- Star Asterisk S/N Replacment

For sale is a Rare 1899 5 dollar “Chief” Silver Certificate. This is one of the most rare old US notes, mentioned on the list at #10 in the 100 greatest american currency notes. This specific note features an unusual Star Asterisk symbol instead of the first letter in the serial number, replacing that letter. The result is this note only has an 8 digit serial number, instead of the almost always seen 9 digit serial number for these notes. Millions of these notes were originally issued in the late 1800’s, however the vast majority of these notes were redeemed for silver in the early 1900’s, leaving an extremely small margin of just around 5,000 notes left remaining. This is one of those rare 5,000 notes still in existence. Poor condition as shown, my currency guidebook has it in About Good with the star astrix in front at 2,000 value. Considering the heavy wear I’m heavily discounting this note to 1,425.
