A pair of 19th century Spanish Conquistador brass stirrups. Each is marked "depose". The "d" has faded on both. The mark "Depose" suggests an original origin in France, and means “Handmade”. Production date was most likely middle of the 19th century. Each stirrup is appx 10" long, 5" wide and 5" tall. Good antique condition with age appropriate wear. Attractive patina to brass and a small corner chip on one stirrup as shown in photos. The stirrups were found with an attached note of some provenance stating:“3/17/2021 Admiral & Mrs. Ellsworth brought these “shoes” back from Bogota, Columbia where they were stationed. The shoes were in Bud’s garage in Vista, California gathering dust when we saw them. Bud gave them to Bill.”
