Otto Muller Vintage Mid-Century Kaufbeuren Headlight Rhinestone Clip On Earrings

Vintage mid-century headlight style prong-set colorless rhinestone earrings by Otto Muller. Clip-on closure. Signed 59, Muller’s Kaufbeuren Neugablonz factory number. Gorgeous on, and a timeless design. Muller was one of several million German-speaking Czech nationals who were expelled from Czechoslovakia after WWII; several thousand, including Muller, were skilled jewelry artisans who had been living in Gablonz and then, after being expelled, resettled as refugees in the Kaufbeuren region of what was then allied-controlled West Germany. Kaufbeuren soon became a major center of exceptional costume jewelry production. Muller himself produced jewelry for several of the French couturiers, including Christian Dior, Maryse Blanchard, and Cis. He also partnered multiple times with Max Muller—another exceptional Kaufbeuren jeweler.
