The flag has 7 individual red stripes that are appliqued in a flowing layout. The word America was sketched out by her and then intricately appliqued in a celebration design. To add a little more to the pillow fireworks comes out of the letter i, she embroidered the streamers in different colors with matching stars spattered around the pillow. The borders are a blue plaid with red and gold square alternated in the four corners. To give a feel of softness Mona Rae appliqued cotton fabric on top of flannel so if you close your eyes you can feel the applique. The finished pillow is 15 inches x 20 inches.All of the fabric used is Moda, a top of the line fabric that can only be found in quilting stores. The stuffing is a cotton polyester blend that will not flatten.
